August 25, 2019 – Thoughts by Rev Kev

Take a moment and ponder on the words that the Presider calls us to pray on this last Sunday in August. I would invite you to meditate and ponder on these words.

“O God, who causes the minds of the faithful to unite in a single purpose, grant your people to love what you command and to desire what you promise, that, amid the uncertainties of this world, our hearts may be fixed on that place where true gladness is found!”

Break this prayer up over the next week, especially as we send our children off to school and begin another year of studies and new relationships. Many times we may feel that it will be impossible to strive and enter through the narrow gate because of all the challenges, fears of this world because of violence and tragedies.

Amid the uncertainties of this world, our hearts may be fixed on the place where true gladness is found!

That place is with God in prayer: in your home, school, work and especially around the Altar of God in Church!
