November 3, 2019 – Thoughts by Rev Kev

From the Gospel story of Little Zacchaeus, I would like to invite each of you to imagine Jesus inviting you to welcome him into your home. With all the power and enthusiasm of the ultimate best friend, he calls out to each of us. While reflecting, I invite you to believe in the good our Father implanted in us and help it come forth. Just as I hope in you, you must hope in one another, don’t give up on each other, do not turn away from God or any friend, the Good will grow if you help it. The Good will Grow!

Each of us as individuals are invited to listen to Jesus call out to us personally in the similar fashion. How-ever, we need to also realize we have to work on this Friendship/Relationship with Jesus. Reflecting on Zacchaeus this week and the Tax Collector in last week’s gospel we need to understand God’s patience and mercy. Life can wear us down and never more thoroughly that when we look at our mistakes which so easily erase the memory of our acts of goodness. Jesus knows our failing full and well, but he also knows all of the good that is within each of us.

May you find the chance to celebrate His Love and mercy through the Sacrament of Reconciliation and al-low the chance to confess your weaknesses and ask God for the Mercy and Grace to celebrate your gifts within this life. Ultimately, come to the celebration of the Eucharist to be nourished and strengthened as a Child of God.
